at Protal office where samples were shown him made very bad impression on account of meager and inferior samples. Spent all morning with Weger. Had trouble in speaking on account of hoarseness. Very warm tiring weather. Weger says Segal wants to see me in Berlin, told him it is out of the question or Segal wants to come here. I hope not..I am tired right now. I want to have a rest. Afternoon came here Rodgers of Carborundum explained him my work on grindstones Gave him copy of my patents in grindstones. Told him would give them every opportunity for experimenting and ultimately if can interest them might sell them my patent for grindstones or give them exclusive rights.

Lewis drove us to University Club. fine drive. Took supper with Rodgers. Met Bishop, steward of club and gave him $15.00 tip for last dinner he arranged for me. Then went to Chemist Club meeting of Society of Chemical Industry. Defeated Schweitzer's candidates all. I got elected least of the list. carrying more votes than anybody else and my whole list carried entirely. This was a good lesson for Schwietzer. Drove back Riederer. Toch, Petsche, Berlozheimer to Yonkers. stopped at Frankfort for a glass of beer and arrived home about midnight. Do not feel so tired nor disgusted and discouraged as I did this morning.
