April 13. at 9 A.M. left here with Saberski, George and Lewis for trip to Garrison. crossed river, visited West Point. Lunch at that antiquated "slumgullion hotel same old snare. Beautiful weather, drove thru woods over mountain road to Central Valley, thence over Arden and Tuxedo to Nyack, splendid road, beautiful scenery. crossed Hudson, back in Yonkers about 5:30 P.M. Machine ran fine! Then drove to New York, took supper at Mouquin with Saberski then went to Chemists Club to committee for Chandler celebration. Took Evans to

Dobb's Ferry and arrived home at about midnight.
[[underline]] April 14. [[/underline]] Mr. Schwartz of Florence Mfg. Co. here this morning. Concluded that their troubles with brush handles is due to imperfect impregnation. He left some fine samples of brushes here. Thurlow will go there. Seems much interested in paper Bakelite. Dr. Burger arrived here to get a recommendation for a purchase in Buffalo which I gave him. Afternoon Mr ^Glenn^ Williamson of New York World here in regard of [[matrixes?]] of Bakelite paper. Says their [[matrixes?]] now cost item 5 cents a piece without labor. The latter costs them nothing because it is made between times. Drove with him to May's where I found Thurlow and where we talked matter over further.
