went to see First Allegheny Plate Glass works. Fine installation much bigger and better than what I saw in Charleroi, Belgium. Then [[train?]] went to Westinghouse. There Mr Skinner was awaiting me, and introduced me to his assistants and colleagues. Showed me some experiments with Bakelite making of paper tubes by watery paper with liquid A. then rolling up lot on mandril. Attempts of building up mica sheets with powdered A. Commutator sleeves were coated with A. etc.  took lunch with the head engineers and spent remainder of afternoon at the works examining different problems where Bakelite can be used. Transparent field for Bakelite in this. 
Coming back to hotel found Celine who says she is very tired

and feels ill from fatigue. Has been motored around city by ladies of reception committee had to serve tea and has literally been made uncomfortable by too much kindness. After awhile got better and joined me in banquet where I presided with her. About 400 participants beautiful room great night. "Section A" more boisterous than usual. When I got up to make my speech had to listen to the old Bakelite song. My speech was well received and I made them laugh several times. Celine seems to enjoy it immensely and I feel very glad for her. She left at 10. P.M. alone for New York while I stayed until the end.
