Wrote him letter back, giving him a last chance to subscribe. Took afternoon restfully but somewhat depressed in spirit.  Ever new difficulties in all these many problems and practical matters going much too slowly everywhere.
June 6 (Sunday)  Another bright [[strikethrough]] cool [[strikethrough]] day not too warm. Spent morning writing up orders for my men during trip to California.
Went to fetch Joyce and his wife to station  They took lunch with me. Joyce says celluloid articles are sold some as low as 65 cents to over one dollar per lb. Says no more than 20% filling material can be incorporated in it. Says that it is impossible to make bulky articles on account of impossibility of

curing same and that it is not even possible to make a solid piece as big as a billiard ball.  This is news for me.  In that case there is no wonder that we should have trouble to make large pieces with Bakelite.
June 7. Cool day.  Dictated letters early then left for Perth Amboy Trust.  went to Peters & Williams and spoke about necessity of [[strikethrough]] organizing [[strikethrough]] incorporating the Bakelite company. At Perth Amboy met Dr. [[Taversterling?]].  Rossi and the chemist in charge of formaldehyde plant. Was rather disappointed to find crowded altho' large factory. no room available for Bakelite. Have bought large tract opposite factory for $200,000 but title is not clear yet and a clear title has only been promised for July 15; went to see some other old plant which is idle but not suitable.
