[[red underline]] and wants vacation of one month! [[/red underline]] Told him cannot present matter before my affairs are straightened up.  with G. B. Co. say not before Oct. 15. Came home with May.

receive letter from [[red underline]] van Sinderen [[/red underline]] which straightens matters relative to resolution.  Spent all day dictating letters relative to [[?]] for stockholders of [[red underline]] Protal Co. [[/red underline]] Miss Evans here until after 5. P.M.
Oct. 2. (Sunday) Last night fearful wind. Felt as if my windows were to blow in.  This morning Sunny crisp, dry weather. [[red underline]] DeMuth arrived here. [[/red underline]] Showed him results of my work on transparent Bakelite, seems very pleased presented me some specimens of [[vegetable?]] pipestems etc. Left at noon. [[strikethrough]] At [[/strikethrough]] After lunch dress of Anna, the chambermaid was torn by Oppenheimers vicious dogs; this has happened so often that I feel much upset.  Unable to work at my matters which require my attention. At
