and all remained until about 6 P.M. Went to station waiting room was where Celine was.  Tramped thru the rain to Cafe des Beaux Arts. Then took Taxicab to see "Get Rich Quick Wallingford". Took 11[[underscore]]27[[/underscore]] P.M train home. Still rains!
[[underline]] Nov. 5 [[/underline]] ^[[1910]] Took it easy.  Dictated letters all morning. [[red underline]] Thurlow [[/red underline]] not here without excusing himself.  Lewis busy making varnish. [[underline red]] Ted and Joe in Yonkers making paper. [[/underline red]]  Took nap this afternoon
Nov.6. Sunday. Engaged [[underline red]] Lorenz Byck as helper to Gotthelf.[[/underline]] was recommended by Prof. Roberts of High School. On afternoon George drove us thru Botanical Gardens then thru New Rochelle Cortland Park back home before dark.

[[underline]] Nov.8. [[/underline]] First snow in the year. [[red underline]] George [[/red underline]] got stuck with motor car yesterday on account of [[red underline]] loose clutch. [[/red underline]] [[strikethrough]] Then is [[/strikethrough]] Lewis busy at [[Shrine?]] tightening up clutch.  George made an insolent answer when I berated him for driving the car without my request.  Got irritated at this and many other things. which go wrong.  I feel sometimes like a fool when I think that I am spending about $16000 a year for keeping my household and other expenses going and have less real service and comfort than a man living modestly in a small house with one servant or somebody boarding in a hotel.
