Oct 23/Went to Dr. [[red underline]] A.S. Cushmanns [[/red underline]] new lab or as he calls it [[red underline]] Institute Chemical Research [[/red underline]] fine building arranged expensively and elaborately in splendid [[strikethrough]]st[/strikethrough]] situation
First attempt of the kind of a private consulting chemist  Then went to Townsend office and met afterwards Mr. [[red underline]] Stauffer at Patent office[[/red underline]] who tells me my patent for [[Schieten?]] + CH20 is ready for allowance.  Later on tells us there will be probably [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] an interference.

pleasant chat.
Oct 24/Splendid weather.  Walked to lab. of [[red underlined]] Cushman [[/red underlined]]. numerous gathering there representative of U.S. army. U.S. Navy, a general and two colonels.  secretary of American [[Camera?]] Association, of American can Co. also [[red underlined]] Dr. Bigelow [[/red underlined]] cans coated with bakelite opened in our presence and contents tasted.  Stands well thus far.  Then lunch at. [[red underlined]] Cosmos Club. [[/red underlined]] Met Admiral Sigsbee there who wanted very much bakelite cigar holder.  Cheerful
