May 12 (Sunday) Drove up to Baskerville He tells me Chandler and Whitaker have [[red underline]] refused retainer of Condensite Co. [[/red underline]] Afternoon motoring Nyack-Palisades Fort George etc. with Dr. Alexander Smith and wife. George drove splendidly
May 13..to office then to Perth Amboy. nothing new there. Supper at Mouquin and home with 8:42 PM. 
May 14.  Home all day dictating 
[[red underline]] Albert Dubiel [[/red underline]] arrived late afternoon starts on duty to morrow. [[in different pen]] New chauffeur [[/in different pen]]
May 15. Home all day.  Evening we all drove together to Pa. R.R. Station - It rained

May 16. Little sleep in car. Hearing from 10 A M till 3 P.M before Stauffer and Moses. [[red underline]] Dyer Smith [[/red underline]] made poor argument Townsend excellent. It looks as if we will win out..[[Ohm?]] of geological survey will make slide of pipe [[?]] bowl.
Evening Cosmos Club. met Munroe took him for supper at Shoreham. To bed at 12.
May 17.  Clean clear atmosphere. Walked to Townsend office Took nap in afternoon.
Evening at Cosmos Club.  Took supper with [[Buchenstern?]] at Cafe République. At Cosmos Club met [[red underline]] Oldfield [[/red underline]] (of Oldfield bill) and [[red underline]] Stewart [[/red underline]] examiner in chief. Left with 12:30 P.M train
