Restful day. Gotthelf and Lawrence much at work like usually. [[red underline]] I feel very happy.- Celine as usually very active much interested in our work.[[/red underline]]
I wired to George that Lawrence ^[[Byck]] will join him in Adirondacks
Aug 18: Sunday A restful day. much needed rain last night.
Aug 19. Early up and busy. then came [[red underline]] Parker [[/red underline]] by appointment. Went with him to see [[red underline]] Porter [[/red underline]] and [[red underline]] Bozelli. [[/red underline]] We got in engagement at [[red underline]] $4000 a year [[/red underline]]
Same awkward hesitating man. But I think we need his services and

Then to office. Then met Albert Hooker and Hageman at Chemists Club and motored them both for supper to my house. Two hours talk on book. Chge 2 hours. Hooker stays here.
Aug 20. Very sultry day. Hooker here all day in conference [[red underline]] correcting and revising M.SS of book which is in very unfinished and clumsy [[/red underline]] condition. Am rather disappointed at this.[[red underline]] Hagerman [[/red underline]] has simply spent time compiling and mixing up instead of systematizing. Hot, tiring work interuppted continually by telephone calls. Charge 8 hours ($40- [[note in margin]] # //40.00 [[/note in margin]]
