Climbed to Cascade Mtn. and slept there
At last the white Mtns are behind me
The route now designated A.T. is longer
higher and rockier than in 1948
Some thru hikers including the family
have bypassed the higher and rouger parts
I hardly blame them, the weather is treacherous
At this time of year Maine is treacherous
But the altitudes are lower and I hike on
Rock steps ar an abomination
Instead of easing yourself and pack
upward with small [[?]] steps you are forced
To lift yourself and pack at each step
Switchbacks are the answer [[?]] and dynamite
can be used effectively on slanting trail
This is heresy of course to the laughing hyenas
They love to "challenge" a hiker where is the choice
