The scenic vallue of the A. trail
is greatly reduced in fifty years.
Many trees dead or dying, uprooted
Freak storms and turbulence, hurricanes.
The answer lies in this thing called progress
Too many Jet aircraft and rocket launchings
Too many trucks replacing the trains
too many places like three mile island
I lived near there but I moved away
But when I moved to orchard country
The deadly sprays killed my [[insertion]] honey [[/insertion]] bees
My woodland flowers wilted and died
As a boy I fished in meadow streams
And barefoot walked the fields of home
But now I am walking a mountain [[insertion]] trail [[insertion]]
Byrds Nest #3 a structure of stone
Stands here neglected with little use
