Thema was first secretary of Susquehanna ATC Hawk Rock one of the finest viewpoints on the Appalachian Trail, overlooking the Susquehanna river, Duncannon and a vast area of central Penna. This is the birthplace of Susqehana ATC. 
We gathered there to start the club co-sponsor was George Gruber of Harrisburg The area around Duncannon was a meeting place for Indian Pow-wows- with a burial mound To the north on an island is the site of the strang and terrible "Legend of the Mound" The Juniata joins the Susquehanna at Duncannon. The A.T. crosses the [[strikethrough]] wide [[/strikethrough]] river at Clark's Ferry and ascends a steep slope at Peters Mtn. The new Clarks Ferry Shelter on the top replaces my Susquehana shelter, now removed.
