As I passed Cyrus Fields last night I found a crowd around the house & found that their "burglar alarm" had been rung & they had the police there; but I did not learn whether they had a [[underlined]]successful[[/underlined]] burglary or a false alarm. As they get so many frights I begin to think it's the work of their rascally boys - They are equal to anything in the way of mischief. I asked Beard yesterday how many pictures he'd sold this spring & he replied - "When I sell another, that will make [[udnderline]] one [[/underline]]." So you see how the arts are flourishing here. The N.H. closes this week - much earlier than usual. I have just seen Tuckerman - sends his love to you - Says he's much gratified to hear that you've had a good time generally - & wants to know whether you intend going to Athens, as he would like to give you a letter to his brother, who is now minister to that classical court.
This closes my [[underline]] Journal [[/underline]]. With regards to Mrs. Church.
Most Sincerely,
M.J. Heade
