Bar. 29.154. Ther. 19. Min 16. Max 23 Wind NNW strong. Cloudy with a little snow. Wind works round to the S and finally in the evening to SE and the temperature rises.
 
-----Saturday Jan 20------
Bar. 29.808 Ther. 26 Min 13 Max. 23 Clear, nearly calm light SE air. Ice forming again with some rapidity. P.M. cloudy fresh SE wind. Later strong NE and N Evening NNW ice grinds hard around the harbor & vessel. Bar rises with N wind to 29.930

-----Sunday Jan 21-----
Barom. fell last night about 8 P.M to 29.450, a SE gale came on with heavy squalls of half melted snow. The sheet of ice at the opening of Iliuliuk harbor comes down on us by the mn. Our chains cut a clear passage through it and the vessel is but slightly chafed. The old and heavy ice a foot or more thick gets adrift & half of it passes out through
