July 11  Beautifully cool bright day.  Dictated most of day.  Busy busy day.  Evening quiet and beautiful cool weather.  No finer weather possible.
July 12.  Sultry and heavy.  dictated all morning.  Apparatus from Germany arrived in several big cases including binocular prismatic microscope Eveng supper for young friends of [[underlined]] Nina [[/underlined]] so I went to N.Y. first to University Club to have hair cut Then for supper to Chemists Club.  Violent rainstorm while there on roof garden.  Remained there till 11 [[underlined]] 40 [[/underlined]] train
