is very little interesting except showing the fact that even the most talked about resorts here in New York are as a well beloved Sunday School as compared to the average similar resort in any of the european capitals. Home about midnight
July 26.  Sultry day.  This morning while I was in bath, the message was telephoned to me that my friend [[underlined]] Evans had died [[/underlined]] this night after his operation!  The mail brought me a letter from him this morning expressing his confidence in his surgeon. - What an unexpected blow again.  Probably anesthesia has killed him.
At. 4 P.M went to Chemists Club then to University Club.  Supper at  Mouquin then home with 8:45 P.M.

July 25. Cool and open weather.  Busy till 4 P.M. then went to University Club library reading till 8:30 P.M then went to Hammerstein roof garden.  Home last train.
July 26.  Drove to Chemists Club then with [[underlined]] Hess, Duggan, Teeple Whitaker [[/underlined]] all to [[underlined]] Longue Vue for supper [[/underlined]]  Pleasant cool evening.  Very enjoyable time
July 27 (Sunday) Another beautiful day.  Afternoon drove to Dobb's Ferry to [[underlined]] Funeral of Evans, [[/underlined]] mostly members Chemists Club and Fensophs there.  Drove [[underlined]] Dr. Armstrong, [[/underlined]]  McKenna, Hallock and Arthur Elliot back.  On the way they stopped at Snug Rock for short time.  Took supper with [[underlined]] Armstrong [[/underlined]]  at University Club
July 28. Sultry weather. Violent rainstorm afternoon. Went
