38 I found also some good records which had been sent from Yonkers so I enjoyed some music.  A heavy rain shower, then hazy and sultry George prepared supper and [[strikethrough]] we [[/strikethrough]] afterwards only told me he had [[/strikethrough]][[illegible]][[/strikethrough]] supper at Scarett's.  I regretted he had gone thru all this hot work on my account without mentioning that he had supper.
Aug 18.  Nice clear weather.  At ten we went to the carry then put our canoe on the steamer to Blue - Mountain bought some provisions there, and paddled down the lake, found a nice little sandy beach on a little island. Water so clear that the bottom and the plants there could be seen very deep.  There enjoyed our meal consisting of saltines, crackers, and bananas

39 After about one hours rests we paddled down Blue Mountain Lake, then Eagle Lake, beautiful landscape of virgin woods. with only two or three camps or cottages.  [[strikethrough]] We took a swim [[/strikethrough]]  It was very hot. and we stopped long enough to take a swim.  Then George tried unsuccessfully to fish for trout in Ultowana Lake.  We paddled to the carry where there were several canoe parties of campers transporting their baggage.  George helped Scarett to handle the baggage of the incoming boat and helped also along the little scuttle train, just as if he was a hired hand. and seems to make himself useful here around whenever he can.  While I was assisting there came a nice mahogany automobile boat in charge of a chauffeur and from the rain
