Advised not to license because they will sell caustic and bleach and will thus become indirect competitors to us.
Evening spent at University Club with Brichenstein.  Home with 10:45. Hot and sultry.
Sept 5.  Dictated letters all morning [[underlined]] Jones [[/underlined]] came here at noon  Laid out program for immediate work for him.  Rain storms.  Evening Brichenstein here for supper in coming back we struck violent rainstorm.

morning still wearing his [[underlined]] newly raised moustache [[/underlined]] Evening the deVecchi boys stayed here overnight.
Sept 7 (Sunday) Went to fetch [[underlined]] Bullard [[/underlined]] at Mount Vernon with motor car.  Afternoon he, the deVecchi's and our whole family motored via Nyack.  Palisades and 130 str.  Bullard remained with us in Yonkers over night.
Sept 8.  All motored to 42d street and took 10:30 train to [[underlined]] Rochester meeting of [[/underlined]] A.C.S.   Sultry as far as Syracuse. then cooler.  Stopped at Seneca hotel Supper of Council then council I spoke against consolidation of our journal with Remsen's and Bancroft's.
Sept 9.  Mr. [[underlined]] Hutchinson [[/underlined]] of emulsion dept of Kodak Co took me in his car with [[underlined]] Prof. Morley [[/underlined]] and Mrs. Morley.  Mr. [[underlined]] Stuber [[/underlined]] there and
