Patent Suit.  Seemed blissfully ignorant and unprepared for subject.  Knows no chemistry and gives us good example of state of mind of average judge except that he is more intelligent.  Took lunch with me at Drug Club.  Then showed him our collection of samples.  Then only he thawed out and seemed enthusiastic after we had shown him the many applications of Bakelite. [[underscore red]] This indicates the way how to present the subject![[/underscore red]] How to initiate the judge first with the manysided results of my work and treat bedsteads as secondary matter.  He then became even more interested in the story how I started on bakelite etc.  Busy till late at his office. Went
