Jan 18 - 1914. (Sunday) Very busy all morning correcting and reading testimony.  About noon [[red underline]] Seabury [[/red underline]] here who told us of his european trip and that [[red underline]] Count La Valette [[/red underline]] offers him partnership if he is willing to give his experience in molding. Left here early afternoon and I kept at reading record of testimony and correcting till late. Am enjoying the reading of H.C [[red underline]] Well's "Passionate Friends" [[/red underline]]

Sent my corrected proofs of answer to Redman. Afternoon went to Brooklyn to meet [[red underline]] Dr. Peter [[/red underline]] etc. [[red underline]] Paulus [[/red underline]] back. [[red underline]] Sutherland [[/red underline]] busy in laboratory on glyoxylates. Advised them to concentrate attention on direct transformation

Evening at University club met a certain Mr. C. E. Townsend of San Francisco who came with letter of introduction from Dr. Winship.  He represented Panama Exhibition and started long discussion on Kahn bill He tells me [[red underline]] my article in Electrical World [[/red underline]] has done much harm.  Wants me to retract some of my statements etc. Refused politely but firmly to do so. He seemed rather disappointed   Afterwards went to see a play "The Things that count".  then home
