I added my personal check for $100.

[[/red underline]]  Went for supper at Chemists Club.  Joint meeting Am. Electrochemical Society and the two others. - Subject Rare elements.  Well filled meeting.  Home with 12:35 P.M

Feb 7.  Busy in lab and dictating till evening
Feb 8 (Sunday)  [[red underline]] George is [[/red underline]] 19 years old to day.  Very cold weather

Evening Dr. Peter here - one hour's conference in relation to his work (charge one hour) then Bowman here too for supper.  Then drove them to Van Cortland at 10 P.M. Very cold night but no snow.

Feb 9. Very cold.  Busy all day with Townsend going over patent matters and specially in regard to brief Nikolas.
[[black underline]] Feb 10. [[/black underline]]  Lunched at Drug Club then went to taylor to get measure taken.  Then at 2 P.M to [[red underline]] Neave [[/red underline]] to get last discussion in regard to final wording of [[red underline]] Nikolas brief [[/red underline]] Evening went with Townsend and Mrs. Townsend and Celine to [[strikethrough]] theatre. an [[/strikethrough]] HofbrÀuhaus. Then Celine and I went to see "Grumpy"
Feb 11. Further hurried corrections to brief. Sent them to Neave by special messenger. Spent 2 hours with Porter explaining latest work relative to transformation of mesotartaric into racemic acid  Charge 2 hours
Then [[black underline]] 2 hours [[/black underline]] with E. H. and Willard [[red underline]] Hooker, [[/red underline]] Bush and Townsend relative to their low ampere efficiencies.  Very cold day

After transcribing many pages of Baekeland's diaries, I believe he inserts the symbol for woman - circle with plus sign on top - in the corner of pages as a reminder where he is charging other companies for his time. Every time this symbol appears, there is a matching symbol with an entry and then a number of hours, sometimes this appears with a company name and sometimes without.
