April 4. After hurriedly dictating letters. Gave to [[red underline]] Celine [[/red underline]] her third lesson in driving this morning. Roads were dry and clear and

she drove as far as Scarborough and back. Has made decided progress. Afternoon I drove to Chemists Club to confer with Robbins ^[[Robbins]] and Mershon relative to patent legislation proposed by the [[red underline]] Inventors Guild. [[/red underline]]
Evening supper at Chemists Club. [[red underline]] Plaut [[/red underline]] gave  
^[[old]] painting to Club purchased in London: [[red underline]] portrait of Priestley [[/red underline]]. Later discussion of bill abolishing commission of explosives.
April 5. 1914. (Sunday). Home all day Afternoon drove to University Club. met there [[red underline]] Richard Anthony [[/red underline]] who sung my praises and gave life history to Courtland Palmer. Home for supper. [[red underline]] Dr. Rogers [[/red underline]] and [[red underline]] Miss Vance  [[/red underline]] here discussing prospect house.
