Got through in about one hour reading my paper "Some Aspects of Chemical Industry." leaving out many portions so as to shorten time.  Paper was well received with long applause. [[red underline]] Dr. Butler [[/red underline]] then presented me [[red underline]] with first Gold Chandler Medal [[/red underline]] ever struck. Whole ceremony very dignified. I had my doctors gown with the colors of the University of Ghent White and Black. Afterwards reception and tea at Chemical Museum presided by Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Chandler.--Then hurried to University Club to put on evening suit. Then to big Banquet Room of Waldorf-
