Astoria Hotel. Nearly a thousand participants. I was a [[red underline]] guest. sat at speaker table next [[/red underline]] to Rector Kohlbeck with his golden Rector's Chain. to my right was Mr. Rickart of Royal School of Mines England etc. Brilliant affair. all classes of Columbia grouped by years. the older being nearest. Good singing and good speeches.
Got home with 11[[underlined]]45[[/underlined]] P.M and did not feel tired but had some trouble falling asleep.
[[black underline in margin]] May 30. [[/black underline in margin]] (Decoration day). Rather sultry. [[red underline]] Dr. Kendall, [[/red underline]] who is Professor Smith's assistant and who was introduced to me by letter through Prof. Svante Arrhenius came here for lunch.

Afternoon took him around in small car over Nyack Palisades and 138 st.
I went to University Club met [[red underline]] Clifford Richardson. [[/red underline]] Drove home about 9[[underline]]30[[/underline]] P.M. Evening was nice cool and bright.

Afternoon went [[strikethrough]]  to University [[/strikethrough]] out with little car to Cortlandt Park Bronx. Bronxville Scarsdale etc. Everybody everywhere seemed to enjoy the spring weather  Parks alive with men women and children enjoying themselves
Came home about 8 P.M.
