Spent morning laying out program for contemplated trip around world.
June 15.  Went to fetch Dr. Kohlbeck rector of Bergakademie Freiberg at Chemists Club, took him and his baggage to SS Princess Cecilia, then to Yonkers for lunch.  Continued trip over Nyack Palisades Fort Lee.  Flat tire there.  Evening after supper at University Club returned.  It started raining much. _ Gothelf back from Perth Amboy
June 16.  [[red underline]] Orders depressingly low. [[/red underline]] Only one small order = 1 lb!!.  All this is very discouraging.  Westing- [[red underline]] house strike makes things [[/red underline]] worse.  I would never have imagined our orders would go bad the way they did since about 10 months.  Mr. Usui of Japan here

to get acquainted with wood lacquering Beautiful cool weather
June 17.  Here all day.  [[red underline]] George [[/red underline]] full with his [[red underline]] examinations. [[/red underline]]  Passed french today.  Yesterday his Algebra.  He has been very earnestly at work and has taken extra lessons with Mr. Churdell [[strikethrough]] f [[/strikethrough]] ever since he left McKenzie's school.  No doubt that he can concentrate his mind on a subject. but the boy has hardly had an hour to himself for many months.  every day early and late and lately evenings after his supper.  Today [[red underline]] got about $2000 orders [[/red underline]] which braces somewhat our faith.  altho' month is much behind only about $12000 thus far.  Last year this month Westinghouse orders alone were about [[red underline]] $17000 [[/red underline]] and DeMuth [[red underline]] $6000 [[/red underline]] and lacquer about as much!
Went to New York to buy some
