at 2:50 P.M. after a hot dusty ride. Went to Blackstone hotel to get a wash and the dust of my face. - How refreshingly cool. Then went to spend two hours to see a photoplay. "The Brewster Millions" very entertaining. Then took taxi to Chicago & North Western Station. Beautiful comfortable new building. At 7. P.M. [[strikethrough]] lef [[/strikethrough]] train left. I had a comfortable compartment very similar to one I had four years ago with [[red underlined]] Celine [[/red underlined]] on [[strikethrough]] my [[/strikethrough]] our trip to San Francisco but cars [[strikethrough]] all [[/strikethrough]] [[red underlined]] are all steel. [[/red underlined]] Fearly hot on train 94° F.! During the night it became colder so that I had to use my blanket and close electric fan in room
July 13 Up early. Nice cool weather. Green unlimited landscape. Fine crops. Corn & alfalfa

and wheat everywhere This is prairie country. entering Nebraska Yellow muddy wide Missouri River. Arrive Omaha Neb. a big busy looking city. mainly grain elevators strike attention. Then the Nebraska landscape. farms and farms till by and by uncultivated land and cattle ranges similar to landscape in Alberta. North Platte River shallow wide flat stretch with thin shallow stream of water between flat sandy bottom. More and more alfalfa fields. Then unreclaimed prairie land undulating similar to Alberta. Cattle ranches and horse ranches. and [[red underlined]] once in a while an automobile [[/red underline]] on the trail winding over the sloping prairie - ordinarily Ford cars. Towards evening entered [[strikethrough]] Wyormin [[/strikethrough]] Wyoming and stopped at Cheyenne 
Well kept station with green lawn about about one hundred spruces
