This is excellent bracing climate. Restaurants too are good clean and cheap. There is a German war ship in and sailor and officer are met in German restaurant Heydelberg. Excellent concert.

July 17. Up early. Took sightseeing car around city. "Rubberneck wagon." Golden Gate Park Cliff House, [[strikethrough]] Presidio. [[/strikethrough]] then hurried lunch. met Arthur Lachman in Restaurant. Afternoon again in "Rubberneck Wagon" over Presidio to grounds of

Exposition. Very imposingly situated near Golden Gate. [[strikethrough]] Building [[/strikethrough]] Most buildings erected but not finished. The Chinese had their festival, opening the grounds 
Met procession of automobiles filled with happy chinamen, chinese brass band, chinese children all happy and merry floating their new republican flag. Evening went to see "The Rose of the Rancho" badly played. [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]]
July 18. Up early went to visit Ralph Gould in his office then Jake Jacobs.
Then took trip to Mount Tamalpays but got off at Muir Woods and visited place where I was [[strikethrough]] last [[/strikethrough]] ^[[four]] years ago about this time, with [[red underline]] Celine. [[/red underline]] Evoked pleasant memories. I wish [[red underline]] Celine [[/red underline]] were here again. Went alone further in the woods and sat down near a wild spot before one of the giant trees. There was one big tree looked like a laurel, crushed a leaf, it smelled good, crushed more and delighted
