but this did not last long, we had hardly reached the avenue when a [[strikethrough]] rock [[/strikethrough]] clap of thunder was heard & it pored. I left Else home, but as I started to come back with the groom holding the umbrella, the rain just came down as hard as possible. But there was nothing to but go, and go we did as hard as ever we could. 
Kitty tore and we must have look wild indeed. The groom trying to protect me and not get in the way of my seeing. We met several carriages, and the coach men smiled etc.
Saturday I lunched with Daisy Post. We had

a very nice time. Willie was as attentive and full of compliments as ever, and acted in our play as lover perfectly.
Sunday I went for Sybil and we [[strikethrough]] drov [[/strikethrough]] walked together. I afterwards met the other girls and they joined us.
