Jack Wilson, Jut and I took a fifteen mile walk to the Orange Mountains and Montclair. We walked direct to the mountain top and ate our lunch we had brot. We could see the surrounding towns, other mountains, the meadows, Newark bay and Newark, the palisades and New York. Coming down the mountain we bought some soda at a store. We then walked north to the Park St. railroad station along the tracks to Glen Ridge station. Jack took us to a summer friend's house to see him. He only said about 2 words to him and we went on eastward through Glen Ridge village where Jut and I had a big bottle of birch beer. We came to a canal bridge and then followed the Morris canal toepath to a bridge where Jack took his clothes off to go in swimming. He backed out. Jut & I went on top of the bridge [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] when Mr. Libby's daughter of Nutley came along. They were looking over the bridge when Jack popped out with only his underclothes on. He popped back quick because he didn't know Mr. Libby was there.
[[continued vertically in right margin]] After a mile's walk we reached home.

I went to Sunday School this morning. Afterwards down ^ [[insertion]] at [[/insertion]] the springhouse, Don, Jack W. Jut & I were looking in the water when ^ [[insertion]] we [[/insertion]] saw a snake. We caught that saw three more and caught two. We got strings and tied them to their tails. Jut's snake got lost and Jack got a snake for me. We chucked them into the water, pegged at them with rocks and that killed them. In the afternoon we got a couple of small mirrors and flashed them at kid's eyes and in the drug store. Down at Bodman's as Jack & I were sitting on the steps Jut suddenly threw a pail of water out of the window and got Jack wet but not me. It got Jack mad too. Harold Sterner is Nutley to-day.
