[[underlined]] Wednesday 19th. [[/underlined]] I worked all the morning in the garden. Mrs. Try also. she then cleaned the Cellar &c.
Albert, Mary Eliza & Clarra went this evening in the spring wagon for Harriet who came up in the carrs this evening. got here very late, a number of soldiers were in the carrs. which occasioned some detention. 
I took up the small onions & had the bed dug. 
59°. calm dence fog. 80°. s w clear. 69°. calm, clear.
[[underlined]] Thursday 20. [[/underlined]] I have worked nearly all day in the garden. Mrs. Peale, Harriet, Albert, Dolly & her fnd Lewi went this morning to Potte. and returned this evening leaving the two girls in town, they brought back Fredericks 3 sons
Harriet tells me that Frank Hews has applied to the military to protect his property in Pottsville.
And a report that Fort Sumpter has been evacuated
George has been all day plowing in back field.

[[underlined]] Friday 21. [[/underlined]] I worked all the morning in the garden, manured and howed up the cabbage, planted Round Spinach Winter Salad with it, begun to trim the Raspberries &c. George has been plowing all day.

[[underlined]] Saturday 22. [[/underlined]] Soon after breakefast Clarra & I went up to Potte. took up Harris and Fredericks 2 sons who have been staying with us for a few days past. [[strikethrough]] Clarra [[/strikethrough]] and Mary Eliza, [[strikethrough]] who have been [[/strikethrough]] Clarra & I dined at brother Georges. I called to see Matilda she has a bad cold in her head & chest. she is confined to her room.

[[underlined]] Sunday 23. [[/underlined]] James Patterson, Eddy & [[blank space]] came & dined with us. I sent by him letters to Edward, Louisia, Bird, J Heckscruler, & A. Fisher &c lower set of teeth & letter to Franklin Dixon [[?]] The heat has been very opressive today.

[[underlined]] Monday 24.[[/underlined]] I worked nearly all day in front of our houses, regulating the walk sinking the potts &c.
Mrs. Peale, Harriet, Albert & Fanny went this morning to Mr. Killers and this afternoon they went to Mr. Paxon's & Newells, Mrs. Shippen had just gone to Phila. to attend the funeral of Mrs. Gibson
George brought a load of Hay from S. H. that Hicksohn &c returned not being of good quality.
