[[underlined]] Saturday 10th.[[/underlined]] I painted nearly all day on N. 91. Edward took in the Spring wagon May and her family to the Carrs this morning. Mary went at noon to Potte. in the Carrs.
Miss Sarah Levan brought her niece and Miss Hess this afternoon to see us, it commenced raining soon after they came but cleared up before sunset.
47°. calm dence fog. 60°. n w, clo 3 n w. 50°. calm, clo 5 n w.
[[underlined]] Sunday 11.[[/underlined]] This afternoon James Patterson brought down Mary accompanied by Matilda & 2 or 3 of their children he informed me that the democratic meeting held yesterday in Potte. was largely attended by the farmers of the neighbourhood. the crowd was very great and a riot took place, that it was found necessary to have the military brought to quell it, that the Captain went into the crowd with his pistol over his had saying that if they didnot disperce that the military should fire on them which had the desired effect of dispersing them. Their guns were loaded with balls and ready to fire at the word to fire &c. &c.

[[underlined]] Monday 12.[[/underlined]] I painted all day on N. 91. excepto a little while in the garden and while Miss Catharine Levan & Mrs. Welsh where here. 
35°. calm hard frost killed the Dahlias, Tomatoes &c. clear. 51°. calm clo 1 w. 37°. calm, clear.
[[underlined]] Tuesday 13.[[/underlined]] I went with Edward to the 7 Stars to vote, stopping at S. Haven to get the horses shod and 2 barrels for cider.
Mary painted on the Black Hamburg Grapes which I begun and finished it.
I took in the Roots of the [[underlined]]Gladiolis [[/underlined]]. and all the [[underlined]] Tomato [[/underlined]] that were not frozen too much.
Got a letter from Burd saying that his family had arrived safe and much improved by their visit here.

[[underlined]] Wednesday 14.[[/underlined]] I painted the greatest part of the day on N. 91.
Early this afternoon Mr. & Mrs. Edward Thompson & child and her sister Miss Castle and her cousin Miss [[blank space]] came from Ashland
