[[underlined]] Thursday 15.[[/underlined]] Mr. Thompson & party left here soon after breakfast.
 I painted all the morning on N. 91. I then hooped with iron 2 barrels for cider and worked at the celery. I first tied up the leaves after removing the decayed ones and then put stable manure along the rows and then covered it with earth, shall next lay straw on each side of the rows close to the plants and bring the earth up to it.

[[underlined]] Friday 16.[[/underlined]] I painted all day on N. 91. and perhaps finished it, but the day was so dark that it may require some retouching.

[[underlined]] Saturday 17. [[/underlined]] I painted the greater part of the day on N. 90 and 92.

[[underlined]] Sunday 18.[[/underlined]] George Patterson & son John came and dined with us. Dr. Shannan, Mrs. & daughter and Miss Strowth came this afternoon. Mrs. S. made an engaegment to set to Mary on tuesday next for her portrait. 
Edward & Louisia went this afternoon to Benny Potts, they there learned that the union men hung black crape at the doors of those who had voted for Judge Woodward and [[underlined]] Toled a Bell for them[[/underlined]] &c [[underlined]] to attend his funeral [[/underlined]] at Orwigsburg. This was the first day that Louisia has been out since her attack of billious fever and appears no worse for her ride.

[[underlined]] Monday 19.[[/underlined]] I painted all day, begun a Happy Family of Partridges N. 93. dead coloured the greater part of it. Representing the male and Female with a number of their young ones, just before they begun to get feathers. Stretched a canvas on an oval frame for Mary to make a coppey of Burdies portrait for her self.
41°. calm. a thunderstorm & rain at 7 oclock, which lasted but a short time. 65°. s w clo. 9 s e. 49°. calm, clear.
[[underlined]] Tuesday 20 [[/underlined]] I painted the greater part of the day on N. 93. and dressed 3 or 4 rows [[strikethrough]] with[[/strikethrough]] of celery with manure Mrs. Dr. Shannan sat to Mary this morning. went home with her & Sarah Levan brought her home this evening. Edward finished baling Mr. Sailers hay below the Landing.
