I have been engaged all day in the front of the house, trimming & arrangeing the plants, cutting the grass &c. interupted occasionly by showers. Mr & Mrs Hubley, Edward Hubley, Mrs Peale & Edward went to Potte. this morning and returned this afternoon. 
George worked this afternoon on the front pailing.

[[underlined]] Thursday  2d. [[/underlined]] I have been all day engaged around abut the house fixing the gates to the new pailing &c. planted the monthly Raspberrys that I got from Burd, the Hornet Raspberrys got from Wm. Miller, Chesnut Hill &c.
Edward has been the greater part of the day fixing the pailings in front of the houses assisted by George & John. Mrs. Peale and Mary went this afternoon to S. Haven for the papers, took supper at Mr. Levans, Louisia, Mrs. Hubley & Fanny went this evening to Orwigsburg. Mary & Louisia Hayes went to the landing this evening hopeing to get an evening paper. The carrs had just left, but they saw a person from the Rebell Army, he says that 150 had diserted today from the Rebell Armey.

[[underlined]] Friday 3. [[/underlined]] I transplanted from the seed-bed a quantity of Beets, put them between the rows of Onions. Mrs. Peale, Louisia & Fanny, Mrs. Hubley went towards evening to the landing, got Celery plants &c.
The news today is favorable, an immence number of Rebells taken and sent to Baltimore, the particulars I couldnot learn this evening.

[[underlined]] Saturday 4th [[/underlined]] I have worked all day in the garden dug and manured two trenches for Celery and planted them as it was likely to have rain, which came on before sundown, and prepared more Celery and Cabbage plants with a composition of [[underlined]] soil & Cow manure [[/underlined]] and dipped the roots in so as to protect the small fibres of roots, ready to plant.
