[[underlined]] Thursday 24. [[/underlined]] I painted all day on N. 96, chiefly on the female & her young.  Edward & Louesia went late this afternoon to Potte. und returned to supper. 
18°. calm, clear. 28°. calm n w clear. 20°. calm, clear.
[[underlined]] Friday 25th. Christmas day.[[/underlined]] We got up late as the preparation of a tree for Fanny kept E. & L. up late last night Mary came last evening to S. Haven and after breakefast she was brought home by Mr. Lessoy of Ashland her arrival was unexpected as we got no letter last evening from her. a letter from Burd is satisfactory as to his recovery, he is still confined to the house, but not able to attend to his patience.
  We were all invited to dine at James Patterson's, so Edward took in the carriage Louesia, Fanny & Mary. Mrs. Peale and I remained at home to take care of the premises. They got home this evening about 7 oclock having spent quite a pleasant day in Potte. 
This has been a quiet day with us, for all the hired folks have been absent.
   I painted all day on N. 96.

[[underlined]] Saturday 26. [[/underlined]] I painted all day on N. 96, principally on the skey and the background.
Mrs. Bast sat to Mary this [[strikethrough]] morning, M [[/strikethrough]] today Mr Bast came with her, he is well pleased with the picture & paid for it. he has engaged me to paint a Partridge piece for him 19 by 27. the background the same as 96, he is much pleased with the one I am painting for Joseph Patterson

[[underlined]] Sunday 27. [[/underlined]] We have seen nobody today, we dined at Edwards at 4 oclock P.M. I wrote an answer to Mr. Loring's letter of the 21st. he asks information regarding my Father & his sons. 
30°. calm drizzling rain w. 35°. calm, clo 10. 35°. calm, clo 10.
[[underlined]] Monday 28. [[/underlined]] I painted a good part of the day on N. 96. although the day has been very dark and rainy from the N.E. The trees completely coated with ice, which continued till late in the day, but the rain gradually melted it away toward evening.
I drew the tacks from the parlour carpets for them to be shook. Mrs. Peale intends sending one of them to Burds boarding house for his room, while in Phila. sick.
