[[underlined]] Saturday 16.[[/underlined]] I painted a part of the day and finished a sketch that I made last summer of a Pink Cactus and prepared a place for celery and fixed about the house preparitory to house-keeping &c. 
Mrs. Peale is rather better today.

[[underlined]] Sunday 17.[[/underlined]] Mrs. was not so well this morning having taken medicine, but it operated this afternoon and now she feels much better. 
We have had no company today, it being very oppressively warm and dusty.

[[underlined]] Monday 18.[[/underlined]] Mrs. Peale is much better today. I have been in the garden the greater part of the day. Took up most of the onions, dug the celery trench ready for planting it. had a boy this afternoon howing the strawberry bed and mowing the weeds in the lower part of the garden &c. had my studio whitewashed & scrubbed.

[[underlined]] Tuesday 19.[[/underlined]] Mrs. Peale had a restless night and morning, but this afternoon she is quite bright and comfortable. Dr. Shannan brought his wife this afternoon to see Mrs. Peale. She is quite a nice looking young lady, very pleasant in her manners.
After Julia put down my carpet and arranged the furniture, I hung my pictures and arranged my painting apporatus. The day has been so sultery that could scearcely attend to anything, had much uneasiness in my chest &c.

[[underlined]] Wednesday 20. [[/underlined]] I painted a part of the day on N. 104. Mrs. Peale is rather better today.
This has been a very oppressive day until 6 oclock when it clouded up from the west and gave us a smart shower for a short time so as to settle the dust.

[[underlined]] Thursday 21.[[/underlined]] I worked a little in the garden, then Miss Sarah Levan brought three ladies of Phila. 
This afternoon I was engaged with Mrs. Peale in mgnet and keeping the flies away while she slept. She is better today.
The water in Barn yard stopped running.
