 [[underlined]] Sunday 14.[[/underlined]] This has been a windy day very unpleasant to be out of doors, we have seen nobody all day.

[[underlined]] Monday 15.[[/underlined]] I painted all day on N. 97. 
This afternoon James & Matilda with the three youngest of their children came down, the roads are so much improved that he come down 45 minutes with his two horses in their carriage. Edward sent to St Clear 40 bushels of Potatoes by Geo: & brought back manure, this and the last load was spread on the east side of the small orchard. 
 Brother Burd on Saturday got a letter from Mary saying that May was very sick and in a deep decline. she gave us in her last letter the same idea. 
19°. calm s e, clo 1. 37° calm [[?]] w. clo 10. 33°. calm s e. clo 10.
[[underlined]] Tuesday 16.[[/underlined]] I painted all day on N. 98 & 97. I thought the Pheasant was finished, but James proposed some touches to be given to make it perfect I therefore spen an hour or two on it this morning, which has much improved it. I begun today to finish the birds and harmonise the distance of No. 97. A. E. H. came with Edward. This has been a very unpleasant day to me a strong northwester and a snow all the morning 
Mrs. Peale is still unwell, but on the whole is better 
33°. calm w clo 10. commenced snowing at 8 & kept on until 12 oclock. 38°. w. clo 8 n w. 15°. n w clear. 
[[underlined]] Wednesday 17.[[/underlined]] I painted all the morning on N. 97. chiefly on the middle ground foliage and water. Mrs. Peale has not been so well today Dr. Shannan was sent for and gave an emetic & left some powders for her to take the emetic didnot operate much but she threw up bile. a little this evening, she has been lying on the sofy all day. 
  This has been the coldest day that I have experienced for years, the warmest time of the day the thermometer stood at 6°. a flurry of snow in the middle of the day & strong n w wind. 
3°. n w clear, in the middle of the day a flurry of snow with a [[left margin note]] cold. [[/margin note]] strong n w wind for an hour. 6°. n w clo 3 n w. 0°. n w clear. 
[[underlined]] Thursday 18.[[/underlined]] I painted the greater part of the day on N. 97. Miss Sarah Levan and her niece came to see how Mrs. Peale was, she found her much better today had a better night, and has eaten a little.
