  This afternoon James & Matilda came down expecting that Mrs. Peale and I would go up with them, she didnot feel well enough to go with them. Then Mr. Thompson and his mother came, they all left towards night. (My weight is 142 pounds)
I stretched two canvases on the frames made yesterday, designed a new picture, Male and Female Pheasant in a grove.

[[underlined]] Wednesday 24. [[/underlined]] I painted all the morning on N. 99 being a male and female Pheasant (Ruffed Grouse) In the afternoon I varnished N. 97 & 98.
  Mrs. Snyder came and spent the day with, Mr. S. called for her in the evening.
  Mr. Ashmead, Quartermaster and Rickert waggin master US came this afternoon to see Edward, they were much pleased with the pictures and our establishment.

Sarah Levan and Mr. Crist came this morning and dined with us, didnot stay to tea as it was beginning to rain. He has just returned from the west after an absence of 9 years.

  [[underlined]] Friday 26. [[/underlined]] I painted the greater part of the day on N. 99. [[underlined]] Mary [[/underlined]] came home from Phila. at noon today, she had not received her Mothers letter telling her that she was so much better that she neednot come home.

  [[underlined]] Saturday 27. [[/underlined]] I painted all day on N. 99. altogether. on the Male Pheasant.
  Edward took in the carriage his Mother and Mary to Pottsville. Louisia went this morning to Philadelphia. leaving A E. Hubley to keep house for her.
