[[underlined]] Sunday 7 [[/underlined]] Mrs. Peale, Edward an A E Hubley went to Church left Mrs. Peale at Mr. Levans called for her after church but had concluded to stay there and Edward is to call for her tomorrow on his return from Potte. tomorrow, so I have had a quiet day. no company, roads very muddy. 
36°. calm, clo 10 n w. 42°. n w clo 9 n w. 39° n w. clo 9 n w.  
Mrs. Peale tells me of a great mob in S. Haven turning out the contents of a candy store by the soldiers on furlo. The owner of the store spoke disrespectfully of the soldiers and wished them all killed &c he is a copperhead.
[[underlined]] Monday 8.[[/underlined]] I painted the greater part of the day on N. 99. cut out some stuff for two more pictures. Edward brought Mrs. Peale home from Mr. Levans, she is much the same as when she left home. 
Ed. sold this afternoon the calf $6.  
The same set of soldiers begun their work of plunder again today, they having emptyed the shop on Saturday to day they threw in to the street the bedding & other things from upstairs.- and then attacked the copperhead store opposite Mr. Levans, they completely emptyed it throwing everything into the street & Mrs. Peale witnessed it and was glad to get home to be quiet.

[[underlined]] Tuesday 9.[[/underlined]] I made a frame and stretched a canvas for a picture this morning, and painted all the afternoon on N. 99.  
I understant that 2 of thieters were taken up, and two cannons were sent to S. Haven.  
Edward has removed his horse press to the Barn floor. to press the hay that is in the barn.  
Mrs. Peale is better today.

[[underlined]] Wednesday 10th.[[/underlined]] I painted all day on N. 99. This afternoon, James and Edward Patterson came down.

[[underlined]] Thursday 11th.[[/underlined]] I painted the greater part of the day on N 99. after dinner it became so dark that I had to stop. They have sent up 4 loads of hay which finishes the contract 75 tons @ 30 $ is $ 2,305.  
Mrs. Peale is rather better today. & took the regular meals but very spareingly.
