better today still very weak. Edward had the drain in the cellar cleaned out this morning. got by express some articles from Charles. [[?]] butter from Miss Hubley and calvesfeet jelly from Miss Warner for Mrs. Peale.
Miss Sarah Levan and Mrs. Cob from Phil[[superscript]]a[[/superscript]]. called this evening. Sarah went up to see Mrs. Peale and was much delighted to see her look so well and chearful.

[[underlined]] Sunday 29.[[/underlined]] Mrs. Peale seems better this morning than yesterday, but this afternoon was rather exhausted by seeing too much company. James & Matilda Patterson came, Benny & Mary Pott came - the ladies were with Mrs. Peale some time, which was rather too much for her. 
It clouded up towards sun set from the west and is now overcast.
50° calm, clear. 61°. calm s w clo 1 n w. clouded up from the west towards sunset. 60°. calm commenced to rain.
[[underlined]] Monday 30.[[/underlined]] I painted all the morning on N. 100. and worked about the front yard, weeding &c. Mrs. Peale is much better today than she has been. 
55°. calm, clear. 77°. s w clear. 66°. calm, clear.
[[underlined]] Tuesday 31.[[/underlined]] Mrs. Peale had a bad night but revived and has been about the same as yesterday, perhaps a little stronger. 
Edward went this morning to Pott.town.
Louesia went to Pott[[superscript]]e[[/superscript]]. from S. Haven and returned in the afternoon train.
Mrs. John Shippen & Elizabeth came this afternoon to see Mrs. Peale - Brother George, Lydia and Fredericks wife also

[[double underlined]] Wednesday June 1st. 1864. [[/double underlined]] Mrs. Peale slept all night and this morning quite bright, pulse full and regular. I painted all the morning on N. 102. and commenced a Fruit piece N. 103. I worked a little in the garden, hoed a part of the Albany seedlings, but was soon overcome I had to desist. Louesia went this evening to the Carrs expecting Edward, he didnot come.
60°. calm, clear. 86°. s w clo 3 s w. Clouded up towards night s w 69°. e clo 4 lightning s w.
[[underlined]] Thursday 2.[[/underlined]] Mrs. Peale is much better today. I painted the greater part of the day on N. 94. Mary took it to Phil[[superscript]]a[[superscript]]. thinking it was finished, I have altered the back-ground and shall retouch the grapes.
