October 1864
[[underlined]]Saturday 22th.[[/underlined]] I spent the greater part of the morning at Mr. Mc.Allisters looking over the various beautiful articles in his store, his father had not come, in consequence of the rain, I then spent some time at Mr. Earls gallery and W. Birch's found that he was the grand son of the Artist that I formarly knew (.Thomas Burch marine Painter) Miss Richards called and presented me with a fine large plant of the Eddy Patterson & his friend Robt. Haistings came.

[[underlined]]Sunday 23.[[/underlined]] I have spent the day in the house. Mary went in the morning to church & Emma went with her in the afternoon, Eddy Patterson & his friend returned with them. It has been a charming day.

[[underlined]]Monday 24.[[/underlined]] Went to Mr. Mc.Allisters to obtain new screws for Marys Easel that were lost. Purchased 2 glass stopple Phials for Oil & Turpentine for my paint box. 
Auria Sellers called this morning to see us.

[[underlined]]Tuesday 25.[[/underlined]] I hung Mary's portrait, Pearl of greaf, My portrait & Tuscan Nat in new frames in the parlour, got materials for my new pallat-box & gave directions to the cabinate maker &c.

[[underlined]]Wednesday 26[[/underlined]] Mary and I went this morning in the carrs to Holmesburg, Burd met us at the Depot. we went with him. found May rather better, she is very weake and confined to her bed, she has had less pain today than usual & less caugh. After  dinner Burd took me all round Holmesburg called to see several of his patience & friends got back near dark after takeing tea he took us to the Depot at 7 oclock, we got home at 8 octock this evening. Emma has been alone all the afternoon.

[[underlined]]Thursday 27.[[/underlined]] I gave additional instructions to the cabinet maker about my glass palate & and made strips to divide my paints in the paint drawer, dividing the drawer for brushes, paints & impliments &c. Charles went with me to the Assessor's office and was assessed, to enable me to vote.
