make use of the Library at all times while in the City. I went with Charles and took supper and then went to Coleman Sellers's, he amused us with some very good Ledgerdemain Tricks which he performed with great skill and neatness.
Theadore Patterson came from Potte. this evening and will board here until he goes home.

[[underlined]] Wednesday 9. [[/underlined]] I painted this morning on N 105 Charles engaged a small table for me with a trifle alteration to hang a picture on while it is coppeyed &c being a tripod of iron.
This afternoon a procession from the Navey Yard passed here with banners and devices &c with a band of music, they marched up to the back door of Independance Hall where a speach was made
Burd dined with me May is much the same as when he wrote to Mary very weake. Laura went out this afternoon and Mary returned this evening Theadore and Emma Patterson went to the opera this evening.

[[underlined]] Thursday 10.[[/underlined]] The morning was dark. I didnot paint any. this afternoon I took Theadore to see William Sellers's establishment I have not seen the new fireproof office since its erection and I am surprised to see the perfect manner that everything is arranged, the elegance and neatness with convenience &c we then went through the shops and examined many of the Laythes, drilling, plaining & cutting machines & passed through the pattern shops &c. &c.
Met in the carr Mr. William Miller [[strikethrough]]Robert[[/strikethrough]] Govenier Morris from Potte. called this evening.

[[underlined]] Friday 11th. [[/underlined]] I commenced a Landscape this morning from a sketch sent by Mary from Mr. Morand for me to coppey and he will come next week to see it and give me lessons in Landscape Painting.
Visitors this morning Viz. Mr. Letell, Mrs. A. Bennet, Mrs. Dr. Shippen & Miss Margaret Walker & Lewis Walker M D. Miss Harriet Shippen, Mr. & Mrs. Stewart Patterson.
Mary went this afternoon to Holmesburg to see May.
