[[underlined]] Monday 10. [[/underlined]] I painted all the morning on N. 114 and 119. [[strikethrough]] Received a letter from [[/strikethrough]] Benson Lossing N. York.
I have just received a letter of thanks for my history of the Peale Family, forwarded to him last Thursday.
Last night the news of the surrender of General Lee was announced, and Mary got up and went to Chesnut Street to see the display and excitement at half past 12 oclock, she was highly gratified. Louisia Peale called this afternoon with Anna Sellers's pictures to be shown to Mr. Moran tomorrow morning. Mrs. Defrance spent the evening with us.

[[underlined]] Tuesday 11th. [[/underlined]] Mr. Moran gave us a lessan this morning, present Mrs. Christie Anna Peale, & Anna Sellers.
Theadore Patterson came this afternoon and Mary and I went with him to Norristown, Brother George has a very nice large house in the main street were we spent a pleasant evening Judge Patton, wife & daughter spent the evening with us there.
[[underlined]] Wednesday 12th. [[/underlined]] We left Norristown after an early breakefast for home, accompanied by Lydia, Lizzy, Theadore & Emma.
I painted a little this afternoon commencing a Bunch of Mallaga Grapes for Mr. Potts.

[[underlined]] Thursday 13. [[/underlined]] I painted all the morning on N.119. and 114. Mr. Faels called this morning. and Eddy Patterson who is going this afternoon to Potte. for a few days.

[[underlined]] Friday 14. [[/underlined]] This being Good Friday I didnot paint and it being a day set apart for the coloured population to rejoice over the Emancipation of slavery I was induce to take a stroll out to see the coloured Regiment pass down 6th. and up walnut streets &c. previous to their departure for Richmond Vira. (it is supposed that they will be sent to look after their former masters to keep them in order.)
