December 1864.
[[underlined]] Monday 19.[[/underlined]]  Burd came in this morning remained but a short time.  Anna Peale, Anna Sellers came to meet Mr. Moran who didnot come until near 10 instead of 9.  Mrs. Cristie also joined us, she brought a small picture that she had painted from one of his sketches for him to work on the sky, he surprised us by laying on a thick coat of yellow in the centre and soon subdued it by the introduction of sunset clouds and introduced water and a vessel as stranded producing quite a handsome water scene instead of her landscape we were all highly interested in the metamorphosis.
This afternoon Revd. Mr. Pryer called, and is much pleased with the portrait that Mary has painted of his wife representing her [[strikethrough]] as[[/strikethrough]] several years before her death; This portrait is for his daughter Anna Atkins.
Mary and I went to the continental hotel to see William Patterson and wife who are going to Potte. tomorrow morning, he has purchased a handsome house in Green Street to reside in, the cost of it was $12,500.
Charles & Harriet spent the evening with us.

[[underlined]] Tuesday 20.[[/underlined]] I painted all the morning on N. 104 put in a new sky &c.  Burd called this morning for a few minutes, Brother George also called and Mr. Preyer to see the picture in a clearer light was very much pleased with it, he had invited Mrs. Carr to meet him here at 11 oclock to see it, she being well acquainted with Mrs. Pryer, she came and was well pleased with it.  Mary Varnished it ready to be sent home. Brother George came this afternoon and took Emma [[strikethrough]] this [[/strikethrough]] to spend the holydays in Potte. Mary went to dine at Mr. Tathams & has not yet got home.

[[underlined]] Wednesday 21st.[[/underlined]]  I didnot paint any today as it was very dark and rainy, having snowed in the night and early this morning, making the walking very slushy. Mary went to Potte. this afternoon to be at the wedding of [[strikethrough]] B [[/strikethrough]] Mis E Morris and [[strikethrough]] Miss [[/strikethrough]] [[?]] Snyder tomorrow
