What Burpee's Seeds Have Done For Me.

Twenty years ago I knew practically nothing of gardening and flower culture. I needed outdoor recreation for my health. I began to use Burpee's seeds for garden and lawn.

A careful study of the Burpee books and leaflets on the preparation of soil and the culture and protection of plants enabled me to succeed with vegetables and flowers above my fondest hopes. The delightful recreation builded my health. My gardens and lawns became beautiful and profitable.

During these years I have been pastor of churches in towns in Arkansas and Oklahoma, where I am known as a Burpee specialist. My income from small gardens has averaged fifty dollars a year, while my family has had an abundance of fresh vegetables at all times. I have sold forty dollars worth of tomatoes a season from one hundred plants.

Where I have followed Burpee's instructions closely with cold frames and compost, my gardens have attracted unusual attention. The beautifying of the premises has enhanced the value of our church property. Sweet peas, nasturtium[[insertion]]s[[/insertion]] asters, pansies and dahlias from my lawn have furnished cut flowers for churches, schools, homes and individuals, and have brought constant gladness to the parsonage family and passers-by.
