transferred my attentions to a smaller herd of kongoni. 3/4 of an hour walk. 1 hours crawl over terrible going in full view and a difficult shot at 250 yds. I took the biggest and hit him right on the shoulder which I could just see. Down he went & up again in a second and away. I gave him half a mile start & then [[strikethrough]] pe [[/strikethrough]] went in pursuit. The way [[strikethrough]] l [[/strikethrough]] he galloped on 3 legs was astounding. The chase lasted 4 hours uphill nearly the whole way and a good deal of the time, spooring him by his blood. After making a big circle, he turned & went down close behind Drought's farm. The latter saw him & ran out & finished him. I have not seen his head yet. I got back to camp at 6.Pm. A hard day & no sit down for the whole time and only one mouthful of water. L still not very fit. He killed 2 [[strikethrough]] bu [[/strikethrough]] Reed buck in addition to his kongoni. Plenty of meat in camp at last. & mail arrived. good!!

A bad morning. I started after a herd of kongoni which were just settling down after their morning drink. I got close enough to shoot in little over an hour and took a difficult moving shot through the Grass.
