The bullet passed just under his belly and away they went. I walked up the hill to see if I could see anything of them. Suddenly I saw about 30 yards in front of me what looked liked the head of an enormous cat. I up with my rifle & away bounded a cheetah giving me a just possible chance in the long grass. I missed him by inches & saw him no more. I came back through camp, picked up my mule & went up the line to look for more kongoni. About 3 miles away I saw a small herd of Topi & started to stalk them. I got fairly close & fired through the grass, but missed again. It was a steady shot & the grass must have turned the bullet. As I fired, L appeared on opposite hill beyond Topi, being after the same party. He turned towards camp & I went on after a herd of kongoni. There were in an absolutely unapproachable position and I tried to drive them, but they were not taking any. I then descried about 4 miles away a herd of something that looked very dark & large and I thought might be buffalo as they were close to the forest. So away I went again & on nearer approach they turned out to be about 40 zebra with a dozen kongoni & 6 Topi. They were in a terribly difficult position but after
