lot of dry dongas & ravines for lions & coming across quite fresh & very large spoor in a dry water course, we started off to follow him. Presently his spoor was joined by another & later on by another. We tracked them for about 4 miles when we lost them, & returned to Camp. A [[underlined]] very [[/underlined]] hot airless day & a tremendous Sun. 
Had a wretched night last night & feeling rather moderate today. The flies are terrible & one can get no rest during the day.
Tomorrow we are going to begin where we left off today after visiting our bait.

Away at dawn on the hill overlooking our kills but could see nothing there & we went off to try some dry dougas & water courses where the Masai report the lions lie by day.
