Lois Elocution since xmas.
We made some Molasses candy this evening. I sent out my fourth lesson in "Survey of English Literature Tuesday. I haven't studied much this week. I have not been feeling the best. I had a letter yesterday evening from Mr. P. I do not always think of putting in here every letter I got.
It has rained constantly since this morning about nine o'clock. Water is standing ^[[insert]] in puddles [[/insert]] all around. It is so low here. It is not benfitting me as I hoped. But here my lot has been cast and I must resign my self to it until my school is out which will be in four weeks from last night.
We had is a case of small pox in Buckhannon. The students are having a time with their vaccinations. Gen Smith has it in Harrison County.
Every one is now gone to bed. I must go to and get up in the morning not so late as usual. I want to write some kind of a good letter to [[?]] [[?]] about all of this week's news. "Honey" Jamison has had fever this week. Mr. Cain has been sick. I haven't taken the "Rosiola" yet. I hope I won't, for I am afraid it will affect my throat.

Ramsey, S.C.
Feb. 17 1900. It rained steady almost all day Sunday. I wrote letters to And P & Lila Black. Monday it was so very damp and my throat was not feeling good. So we did not go to school. Fog was dense all day. Tuesday it rained and we did not get to go to school. Wednesday we went. Hattie Ramsey took "Rosiola" at school. Ida took it the night.
Thursday Miss Till and I went to Miss Rivers to see about sewing. She will make my dress, skirt rather. Friday evening Miss Till and I went to call on Mrs. Wallace Ramsey, Hattie's Mother and also called on Tulula Ramsey. She has "rosiola" too. Rec'd letter from home Monday, Miss Grace Bailey called Monday evening. Tuesday received letter from [[?]], This evening a letter from Sister Mollie. We made a supply of candy today. Candy making seems to be the rage now among the Cains. Mrs. Cain is at Wedgefield at Mrs. Helen Ramseys. She went last Sunday. I am very much in haste tonight. I haven't studied much today.
I fear I am not receiving the benefit I hoped for the winter. It almost discourages me sometimes. But I trust God to have it his [[?]].
