Mr. White says the indians told him there used to be lots of [[underline]] elk [[/underline]] here and that 40 years ago there were elk at La Point and other places north of here. [[underline]] Wolves [[/underline]] he says were very abundant in the early days and he has seen well beaten trails where they had traveled in large packs. He surprised 10 one day eating a deer on the ice of a frozen river.
Mr. Whites stories of the early days of the Indians are very interesting. He spoke their language & was often taken for an Indian.
