Went around to see Hall this morning and give him  a smell of my English tobacco. 
Worked this afternoon from the model Think we made the pose better and I got a little green mummy for her to regard and hold in her hand.
 Met a fellow, an American, named George Ade, tonight at Miss Sargents. He is a painter. 
 Called on Miss Somerville this evening just before dinner Thinks she may go to teach in a convent.

 Sort of raining, been so for some days now. Went over to Rue Boissy-D'Anglas this morning to an exhibition. Say, they can get up as rotten shows here as I ever saw. It was the limit and a fool footman at the door wasn't going to let me in, because I didn't have on a "clack", the ass
 Met Miss Sargent there and that sort of took off the curse
 Painted this afternoon but it was pretty black even in Twachtmans studio which is about as light as outdoors
